The Denver Branch hosts a Writing Competition for High School students each fall.
Fiction and Non-Fiction are the main categories. Themes vary each year. Topics in past years included continental expansion, social media, American authors and short stories.
The judges of the submissions are English teachers, professional writers, and journalists. Any student in grades 9-12 has an opportunity to compose an essay or short story of no more than 1500 words on the chosen topic.

$250 2nd Prize
$100 3rd Prize
2 Honorable Mentions are also awarded
The teacher of the 1st Place Winner receives an ESU 1 year Gift Membership, a $50 value.
