On November 7, 2016, the ESU formally welcomed Antonia Romeo, the new British Consul General in New York with a reception at the ESU House hosted by ESU Chairman, Dr. Paul Beresford-Hill CBE KSt.J, and Executive Director, Christopher Broadwell.

Mr. Broadwell provided a brief overview of the ESU,introducing Consul Romeo to our work. A number of ESU program participants spoke about their experience with the diverse educational opportunities offered by the ESU. Consul Romeo stressed that she shares her predecessor's enthusiasm for the ESU and is eager to foster a close friendship between the British Consulate in New York and the English-Speaking Union.
