2025 TLab Scholarship Application: Princeton
This application is for an ESU Princeton Branch TLab Scholarship. The Princeton Branch will award 1 TLab Scholarship. This TLab scholarship is available to anyone teaching high school in New Jersey. If you are not located therein, please click here to find a scholarship in your area, or apply for a national scholarship.
ESU scholarships are for current classroom teachers attending our multi-week courses at Shakespeare's Globe, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Oxford.
Refund policy: Scholars will adhere to the program refund and cancellation policies. ESU scholarship recipients are required to repay the entire scholarship amount and monies disbursed (concurrent with the Uk program's refund and cancellation policies) if for any reason they must cancel their course of study or are unable to complete the course.
Go Here for information on 2024 courses and dates as reference, 2025 dates available for Oxford & Edinburgh programs in December 2024/early January 2025 for The Globe program.
The ESU wants each applicant to fully understand the requirements of accepting a summer-study scholarship; therefore, below is additional information for the applicants' consideration.
The scholarship covers tuition, room and board, which is paid to the British schools through the national English-Speaking Union. Also covered are the airfare and ground transportation to and from airports, which are purchased by the scholar and reimbursed by the Princeton Branch directly to the scholar.
Scholarships are offered only to full time high school educators teaching in New Jersey.
Applicants must have completed at least two years of full-time classroom teaching in one of the areas in which the scholarships are offered.
Scholarship recipients must intend to remain in the classroom for at least two years in New Jersey following their summer study.
The scholarship programs are intensive and demanding. Travel to a foreign country requires stamina and diplomacy coupled with a willingness to learn about the customs of other cultures.
A valid US passport is required for travel, and a visa may be required.
The scholar's role, in addition to being a student, is to be an ambassador for both the English-Speaking Union and the teaching profession.
The successful applicant is required to repay the entire scholarship amount and any monies disbursed to the ESU Princeton Branch if for any reason they fail to finish the course of study and fulfill all the assignments required by the course.
The scholar is required to make a short presentation highlighting the summer experience to a meeting of the Princeton Branch of the ESU and provide photos and a paragraph or two to be published on the Branch's website. $200 of the scholarship will be withheld until these obligations are fulfilled.
The successful applicant is expected to become an active member in the English- Speaking Union, Princeton Branch. Membership for 2025-2026 will be paid by the Princeton Branch as part of the scholarship.
Shakespeare's Globe Scholarship recipients are expected to be actively involved in the ESU National Shakespeare Competition: Princeton Branch in Spring 2026.
The scholar is expected to promote this scholarship program among colleagues within their own school and in at least two other schools using social media and school presentations during the fall of 2025.
Please Note: Incomplete applications cannot be considered.
