ESU Kansas City Branch Announces
19 Schools in 36th Annual
2020 Shakespeare Competition

The ESU Kansas City Branch, in its 100th birthday year, is thrilled to announce nineteen area high schools have entered the 2020 Shakespeare Competition. This is the largest group of high schools to enter the Competition in our 36 years of hosting the Competition in Kansas City. Congratulations to these schools and best of luck to each student representing their school.

Join Us for Our Annual Holiday Brunch:
Our 100th Birthday Celebration Begins

2020 is a historic milestone for The English-Speaking Union. Both the U.S. headquarters in New York City and the Kansas City Branch were founded in 1920. We are excited to celebrate our 100th birthday throughout 2020 and our first program pays tribute to Lt. Col. Marvin H. Gates who founded the Kansas City Branch of the ESU in 1920 and was our first Branch president.

ESU Holiday Dinner Theatre Program:
Winter Wonderettes

ESU cordially invites all members and Friends of ESU to a fun, holiday Dinner-Theatre program on Thursday, December 12, 2019. The Summit Theatre Group presents a holiday favorite "Winter Wonderettes." The musical is directed by our own Ben Martin and music direction by Ben's wife, Roxanne, both long-time ESU members.

Winter Wonderettes was created as a sequel to the long-running Off-Broadway hit The Marvelous Wonderettes. It has been produced in cities all over the U.S. to sellout crowds and now we will be treated to this delightful holiday musical revue with a delicious dinner added to the package.

ESU Participates in International Relations Council’s 2nd Annual “Your Global Future” for High School Students and Teachers

The English-Speaking Union, Kansas City Branch was one of over 50 vendors who participated in the International Relations Council's second annual "Your Global Future" event at Bartle Hall Convention Center in Kansas City on October 29, 2019. Jeff Schnabel, ESU's Programming Chair had an information table and met with many students and teachers describing some of our educational programs that could have interest to students and  teachers.

IRC invited high school students from the Kansas City metro area to attend this special opportunity for them to meet local organizations, universities and businesses about international education and professional opportunities available to them.

The British Are Coming!  All ESU members and guests are invited to the 34th Annual British Faire and Tea.  This fun event is sponsored by the Daughters of the British Empire in Kansas.
