SHAKESPEARE AT THE HUNTINGTON: SUMMER 2012

Thanks you, ESU of the Desert, for two incredible weeks in July in Pasadena.  I attended plays all over the Los Angeles area, toured world class art museums, studied with famous actors, educators and best of all, worked as an actor and teacher with the wonderful Louis Fantasia.  I returned from my adventure with a treasure of pedagogy and curricula about scholarship and performance in Shakespeare.  Wonderful "teacher stuff" that will enrich my teaching and my productions for years to come.

I teach high school theatre classes, both advanced acting classes and stage production.  I am also the producing director for a busy season of everything from Shakespeare to musicals.  This summer's study provided me with hands on work in acting techniques in voice and movement.  Classically trained actors find contemporary work much less difficult and I am able to use everything I learned in Pasadena to help my students become better actors and better students.

I met two wonderful people who were my hostesses beyond compare.  They made me feel right at home and helped me to keep on my toes with my daily assignments.  I thank them so much.  And I thank you, ESU for a wonderful opportunity that I will value for years to come.  "No profit grows where no pleasure is taken.  In brief, sir, study what you most affect."  Taming of the Shrew
